Postdoc to Faculty Workshop

The Postdoc to Faculty Workshop (P2F) provides postdoctoral scholars interested in pursuing faculty positions at institutions of higher education with guidance and resources to support their job search. The workshop consists of several panel discussions and presentations on topics ranging from finding positions, to the application and interview process, to navigating the first year. Key features include: individual consultations with current faculty, mock interviewing and networking opportunities.

What You'll Learn

P2F participants will:

  • Compare positions and respective expectations in undergraduate and graduate chemistry departments
  • Receive assistance with and feedback on faculty application materials
  • Learn strategies for balancing scholarship, teaching, and service expectations with life outside academia
  • Launch a network of early-career faculty along with mentors, who can help guide newly appointed professors
  • Be introduced to interactive teaching models and resources to facilitate their incorporation
