Denver Land Acknowledgement

The American Chemical Society honors its core value of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect. This core value includes recognition of this nation’s history.  ACS Fall 2024, held in Denver, CO, is on the ancestral homeland of the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapaho peoples.  ACS acknowledges the painful history of enslavement, genocide, and forced removal from this land. ACS honors and respects the many diverse Indigenous, Native, and Aboriginal peoples still connected to this land on which we gather. Truth and acknowledgement are necessary in building mutual respect and connections across all barriers of heritage, culture, identity, and difference.

In building mutual respect and connections, ACS is grateful for its partnership with the American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES), whose staff have worked with us to develop this land acknowledgement. We are also grateful for our partnership with the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in the Sciences (SACNAS).
